About the Feel Great System

The Feel Great program, developed in collaboration with Dr. Benjamin Bikman, an expert in metabolic health, is designed as a simple and sustainable approach to improving metabolic health. Its goal is to support blood sugar regulation, improve insulin sensitivity, and enhance overall vitality.
Insulin resistance is a condition in which the body's cells no longer respond adequately to the hormone insulin, leading to chronically elevated blood glucose levels. This condition is considered a key underlying factor in the development of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Benjamin Bikman emphasizes that insulin resistance is primarily the result of frequent and chronically elevated insulin levels in the blood, often caused by excessive carbohydrate intake and frequent eating. This state disrupts the body's ability to efficiently use fat as an energy source, leading to fat storage and further metabolic complications.
🧩 The Feel Great system and its role in combating insulin resistance:
The Feel Great system is designed to help the body restore insulin sensitivity and improve metabolic health through a combination of two key products:
- Unimate – a yerba mate–based drink that supports the production of GLP-1, a hormone that increases satiety and helps regulate blood sugar levels.
- Balance – a patented blend of fiber and plant extracts that slows the absorption of carbohydrates and cholesterol, helping to maintain stable blood glucose levels.
Together, these products support metabolic flexibility - the body's ability to efficiently switch between using carbohydrates and fats as energy sources. This leads to lower circulating insulin levels and improved cellular insulin sensitivity.
🕒 Recommended daily routine:
• Morning: Start your day with Unimate to boost energy and focus without breaking your fast.
• Before main meals: Take Balance approximately 10-15 minutes before eating to help stabilize blood sugar levels and support digestion.
• Evening: After dinner, begin a 12-18 hour fast, which helps lower insulin levels and supports metabolic health.
If you are a woman who is still menstruating, I do not recommend fasting longer than 12 hours during ovulation and in the week leading up to your period.
During the menstrual cycle, the body goes through natural hormonal fluctuations. The key hormones involved are estrogen and progesterone. Around ovulation and in the week before menstruation, these hormones change significantly. This has a substantial impact on metabolism, blood sugar regulation, and the body's sensitivity to energetic stress, such as longer fasting periods.
Reasons to limit fasting to a maximum of 12 hours during these phases:
1. Increased sensitivity to stress
Before menstruation, progesterone levels rise, making the body more sensitive to stress.
Longer fasts (for example, 16+ hours) represent a form of physiological stress and can increase cortisol levels. During this phase, such stress may disrupt hormonal balance and lead to issues such as increased irritability, fatigue, headaches, or sleep disturbances.
2. Hormonal stability is essential
Both ovulation and the premenstrual phase require a gentle approach to energy availability and nutrient reserves. Prolonged fasting may reduce available energy at a time when the body needs readily accessible resources to support the hormonal cycle.
3. Support for stable blood sugar levels
During these phases of the cycle, the body is less efficient at maintaining stable blood glucose levels under stress (such as extended fasting). Shorter fasts - up to 12 hours - help prevent blood sugar fluctuations and support stable energy and mood.
4. Prevention of hormonal imbalance
Long-term or poorly timed fasting in menstruating women may disrupt estrogen and progesterone production, potentially leading to issues such as irregular cycles, weaker ovulation, or even amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).
This routine is designed to support natural metabolic processes and overall well-being.
